When taking out home contents insurance or when renewing your policy be aware that your insurer will probably ask if you have certain types of locks on your doors and this will include BS3621 locks. This refers to wooden doors with mortice deadlocks or sashlocks fitted (commonly known as chubb locks). To tell if you currently have a BS3621 fitted open your door and look at the locks foreplate. If it states 5 levers and has a British Standard Kite Mark and states BS3621 then you will have what your insurer requires, if not then we suggest that you upgrade your lock just in case.
